The Columbia County Clerk of Courts Office is closely monitoring matters pertaining to Covid-19, and is diligently working to ensure all customers and staff remains healthy during this pandemic. While doing so, it is our goal to continue to strive daily to offer exceptional service.

All departments within this office are available to assist you via telephone, and drop/pickup box, and there are also many on-line services available to you by selecting the “Online Services” tab on this site. If these particular options are not viable choices, please call the department and schedule an appointment to come in for assistance.

If you require “in-person” assistance at the counter, we asked that you do your part to help us mitigate the spread of COVID-19 by:

  • Canceling your appointment if you become ill prior to your appointment
  • Wearing a facemask, and
  • Come to your appointment alone (Only one person per appointment)

James M. Swisher, Jr, Clerk of Court for Columbia County, Florida is a duly elected Constitutional Officer. The Clerk of the Circuit Court is an elected office established according to the Florida Constitution for the purpose of serving the citizens of each county as a public trustee. As an elected official, the Clerk of the Circuit Court helps provide for the system of “checks and balances” that is the very foundation of the American form of government.

The goal of the Columbia County Clerk’s Office is to efficiently and effectively perform as clerk of the Circuit and County Courts, Clerk to the Board of County Commissioners, Recorder and Guardian of Public Records, Treasurer, Auditor and Custodian of all county funds.

The Office of the Clerk of the Circuit Court envisions earning the public trust through leadership in its diverse role as Clerk to the Courts, Guardian of Public Records and Auditor of the Public Resources and Systems. The Clerk’s Office will be an advocate for people in need of access to public resources and records. We will provide an efficient, friendly and professional work force prepared to meet changing customer needs. NOTICE TO BAR MEMBERS: Columbia County is now accepting e-filed documents from members of the bar in all divisions (Criminal, Circuit Civil, County Civil, Small Claims, Probate, Family, and Juvenile).

Attorneys can now access cases they are assigned to by going to the Attorney CCIS website. First, attorneys will need to fill out this form to obtain access.
